Nutrition Tips
Remember: progress, not perfection!
Be flexible (but prepared!): You can meal plan every meal perfectly, but things will always come up. Maybe you ran out of an ingredient, maybe you aren’t feeling what you planned for that day, or maybe you really need a quick meal and the recipe you planned will take 45 minutes. Be flexible, but be prepared. Have ingredients on hand that you can easily throw together to make a quick healthy meal. For me, that means almost always having potatoes, a vegetable, and chicken on hand to make roasted potatoes, vegetables, and chicken. It’s easy for me to throw everything in the oven, everyone loves it, and it’s a balanced meal. I try and always have tortillas to make tacos or quesadillas (chicken, ground beef, ground turkey), which are easy to make with leftovers. And I always have frozen edamame and rice ramen noodles I can pair with chicken, coconut aminos (a gluten-free soy sauce alternative), and whatever vegetables I have left in the fridge. Maybe that’s something else for you, but be prepared when life comes at you so you can make a healthy meal instead of unexpectedly grabbing take-out.
Grocery Store Sales
Here’s my weekly reminder to please check your local grocery store to confirm these items are on sale! The last day of these deals is March 18th or 19th, depending on your location. If there’s another grocery store you shop at, let me know and I’ll try to include it in this section!
Publix - BOGOs!
Remember, if you’re located in Florida, you must buy 1 to get 1 free. If you’re located in another state, each item rings up as 50% off, so you don’t need to get 2 if you don’t need/want to. I added pricing for my local Publix here in Georgia, the “Save up to ___” is if you buy 2.
Here are some healthy (or healthy-ish) BOGO offers this week:
Strawberries (save up to $3.99)
Grape Tomatoes (save up to $2.69)
Organic Blackberries (save up to $5.99)
Minneola Tangelos (save up to $6.99)
Progesso Broth (save up to $2.79)
Polaner Fruit Spread (save up to $4.69) - jelly/jam sweetened with fruit juice, instead of cane sugar/high fructose corn syrup; we love this!
Spice Island Spices
Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt
Siggi’s Skyr Yogurt (save up to $6.19)
Chobani Greek Yogurt (save up to $6.99) - yogurts can get very high in sugar, so make sure to read labels!
Kerrygold Reserve Cheddar Cheese (save up to $6.99) - some other Kerrygold products are BOGO too!
Late July Organic Tortilla Chips (save up to $5.79)
Springer Mountain Farms Chicken Breast (save up to $6.99/lb) and Ground Chicken
Aldi - always affordable!
Here are a few items on sale this week at Aldi -

Red Grapes - $1.49 per lb
Yellow Onions - $1.99 per 3-lb bag
Carrots - $0.99 per 2-lb bag (you can cut up and freeze for soups!)
Recipe Ideas
Here are some recipe ideas for you this week! Recipes are designated as GF (gluten-free) and DF (dairy-free) as applicable.
Paleo Chocolate Chip Muffins (GF/DF) - My son and I just made these muffins this week, but used ~1/2 cup blueberries instead of chocolate chips. They are actually very yummy, and not as dense as other paleo or “healthier” muffin recipes I’ve tried. These made for a yummy breakfast this week paired with some hard-boiled eggs or chicken sausage for protein.
Mixed Berry Protein Chia Pudding (GF/DF) - I’m always looking for egg-free, higher-protein breakfasts because 1) eggs are so expensive right now, and 2) egg allergy in our house, so I’m excited to try this one!
30 (!!) Healthy Recipes 30 Minutes or Less - If you’re looking for quick, healthy recipes, here is a link with 30 of them! If you’re a seafood fan, there are a lot of seafood recipes included. I know I don’t share a ton of seafood recipes (it’s not something I enjoy cooking), but this link includes several!
Chicken Breast Caprese (GF) - Another quick (under 30 minutes) and delicious-looking recipe! All the pictures in each step make this recipe super easy to follow as well!
